Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis

by stighunky, Dec 10, 2008 10:01AM
I am a 51 year old male living in Israel. 7 years ago I had a bout of stinging and burning at the tip of the penis after urinating. I went to my urologist who told me that it is nothing - drink more water. the pain went away and I assumed that that was it. A year later the symptoms returned, more painful and again I returned to the Urologist who said that I was just fine. drimk more water, go home and "make more kids" - his words. Again the symptoms slowly left. After a month or so the symtoms returned with a vengeance. Penis pain, burning after ejaculation, feeling of a golf ball stuck between the anus and the scrotum. I went to a second urologist who after performing a 3 cup test told me that I had a chronic bacterial Infection. He said that he would give some anti-biotics but he was pretty sure that it wouldn't help.
He was right. I had over 20 courses of anti-biotics, flow tests, rectal ultrasounds etc. The only thing I know is that there was tissue damage done to the prostate from the original infection being ignored for too long and now I am left with a life in permanent pain. I was put on Tramadol for a while which helped a lot but I don't want to be addicted to these pills. When I see the urologist now, my prostate feels fine and I am told that there medicine does not have an answer for me. Live with the symptoms.
I would appreciate any help regarding new treatments or procedures.
Mike
