Avatar_dr_f_tn
Hi,
How are you? Hypermetabolism is a condition wherein there is an abnormal increase in the body’s basal metabolic rate such as when there is significant injury, malignancy or multiple traumas to the body. Surgery, long bone fracture. During a positron emission tomography (PET) scan, areas of hypermetabolic activity within the body are identified and the cause is determined. It is best that you discuss the results with your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.
