What does my mri mean



MRI BRAIN WITH AND WITHOUT CONTRAST: Technique: Multiplanar magnetic resonance imaging was performed of the brain using various T1 and T2 weightings with and without the administration of IV contrast. History: Demyelinating disease, headaches, imbalance FINDINGS: There are multiple white matter lesions consistent with history of demyelinating disease. These are best seen on sagittal images. There is a high right frontal subcortical lesion. On the left there are 2 tiny subcortical/juxtacortical foci to the left of midline in the posterior frontal lobe. There is also a small callosal septal focus of signal abnormality. There is no mass lesion or acute hemorrhage seen. There is no mass effect, midline shift or hydrocephalus. There is no pathologic enhancement seen. Visualized portions of the globes, orbits, paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are unremarkable.

Impression

A few foci of signal abnormality as discussed consistent with history of demyelinating disease. No pathologic enhancement. No acute infarct, hemorrhage or mass.

I am no radiologist, but what I conclude from the report is that there is nothing abnormal except for the confirmation of findings of a disease that already has been diagnosed in the past.
This disease is called demyelinating disease. I assume you are familiar with that?
