There are natural iron supplements you can take. One is called Easy Iron and the other one is called GentleGentle laxative Iron. There is a high dose chelated iron from Soloray that is 50 iu. I had the same problems when I tried to take prescription iron supplements. Both kinds made me feel sick. I did much better on the chelated iron. Ask your doctor about the recommended amount to take. If you're anemic, you may be told to take the 50 mg dosage of chelated iron. That's what was recommended that I do when I was iron deficient anemic. Taking the natural chelated iron did boost my iron. The chelated iron isn't expensive at the supplement store, either. It's actually less expensive than the Gentle Iron that is only 25 mg.
How are you? The common side effects of Ferrous Sulfate medication are: constipation; darkened stools; diarrhea; nausea; and stomach upset. What you are experiencing is normal with your medication. If it persists, inform your doctor about this for dose adjustment or proper management. Take care and best regards.
