Are these things related--Sebaceous Hyperplasias & mass behind ear (where skull meets ear) and possible Muir and Torre syndrome?

I am a 32 year healthy female.   No existing health problems.

About 10 months ago, I went from having the occasionally breakout, but generally beautiful skin, to having these ugly little flesh colored bumps on my forehead.  they are only noticable in certain lights, but I hate them.  Nothing works to get rid of them.

I never went to the doctor as it did not seem urgent and between working and my 16 month old son, time is precious:)

Then, about 4 weeks ago, I noticed a painful lump about the size of my pinky finger nail (so pretty small) behind my ear.

I went to the doctor and he said that he was not too worried about eihter, but that he wanted to send me to a plastic surgeon who could remove and biopsy the mass behind my ear and look at my forehead to make sure there was no other relation.

Well-- of course I am now a little nervous and have been doing some internet research to determine if things are related.  It seems getting sebaceous hyperplasia at 32 would be very unusual (it is usually in old people) and that it sometimes is linked to cancer-- specifcally some sort of genticlly linked colon cancer... called MAP or also linked with Muir Torre syndrome.

Anyways, I wondered if there was anyone else out there that had any knowledge of this and could tell me what other symptoms I should check for and how I should approach with my doctors?

Both of my parents died young in a car accident, so I don't know what their health would have been like, but none of their siblings (I was an only child) have anything like this, no colon cancer that I know of (my one aunt did have breast cancer at around age 50) and I think my maternal great grandmother died of stomach cancer in her late 70s, but other than that, no other cancers.

I don't want to be paranoid, but I also think it is very odd that I would have these 2 symptoms and want to make sure that the right questions are being asked.

Thanks in advance
