Arm and chest pain

I have pain that develops in my upper right arm, and spreads across the chest, to the back and on over to my upper left arm.  It comes on suddenly with no precipitating events.  It lasts only from about 15-30 seconds and is gone.  During the event, I can hardly stand up and am extremely weak afterward.
The only time we were able to reproduce the pain was during a chemical stress test just after the adenosine was administered.  It happened immediately.
EKG's show nothing; echocardiogram shows only impaired left ventricle relaxation.
Any ideas would be appreciated because of the brevity of the attack.  My concern is if one occurs when I am driving, or doing an activity where my well-being might be compromised by this type of attack.

Hi,
Thank you for your update. The usual causes of muscle cramps are muscle fatigue and a sodium imbalance. Other possible causes include electrolyte imbalance, hypoxia, exposure to large changes in temperature, dehydration, or low blood salt. While chest pains may be attributed to cardiac and non-cardiac causes such as musculoskeletal,  gastrointestinal, or pulmonary causes. Aside from Mitochondral myopathy and heart conditions, other conditions that need to be evaluated further include kidney or thyroid diseases, and even multiple sclerosis. Have this evaluated further for proper management.  Take care and do keep us posted.

I have been under the care of a neurologist for more than 7 years because of my Mitochondrial Myopathy, and he has no explanation for the cramping pain.

Hi,
How are you? I agree with you that this can have grave effects with your driving or any physical activity. Other differentials may include musculoskeletal or neurological causes. You may benefit from further evaluation by a neurologist or other imaging modalities such as MRI or CTscan. This will help rule out organic causes as well. Take care and do keep us posted.
