HELP!

I have severe abdominal pain that radiates to my lower back. Most tests that have been done, come back normal except one...my white blood cell count, which is at 13,000. No one knows what is wrong with me! Can anyone help??

UPDATE: even though all tests including my injection fracture have come back normal. they are gonna go for the gallbladder, sept 1st. I have contacted my pcp to ask to be tested for ovarian cancer. all my symptoms are the same as that. i have been tested for colon and cervical cancer and both came back negative. again along with all my other tests, except for the WBC which is elevated to 15,000.

thanks for getting back to me. all those that you mentioned have been suspected but not diagnosed. they think ibs but i say no. not with what i experience. been to the gastro doc once, told me pretty much it was nothing and to come off of my protonix and it should get better. well did that for a while and it didn't help. i am now awaiting an appt. to go back and see him. i also have an appt. soon to go see a general surgeon. i can not tell you the number of tests i have been thru in the past year and yet no one has come up with anything. it is getting real frustrating. out of 7 days a week, i think maybe i am pain free for one of them, and sometimes that is a big maybe. i will certainly keep you posted. and let you know how these next appts. go.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
A high white blood cell count indicates an infective or inflammatory process. Infection of pancreas and kidneys should be looked into. You could be possibly suffering from Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I would strongly recommend you to see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system). A number of times a gastroenterologist is able to diagnose these conditions by clinical examination and detailed medical history. Blood tests to rule out anemia, stool test to look for white blood cells, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy etc are used to diagnose ulcerative colitis. Braium meal and follow through, endoscopy etc are done to rule out GERD, Crohn’s disease etc. Irritable bowel syndrome is diagnosed by elimination of other causes. Gluten is a complex protein present in four main grains---wheat, rye, barley and oats. If you have gluten intolerance, then you probably have celiac disease or Non Celiac gluten sensitivity. There are blood tests called celiac test to detect gluten intolerance.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
