I suffered a pretty deep cutCuts and puncture wounds the other day, and was bleeding pretty badly. Don't ask me how, but I soon discovered that after a good 10-15 seconds out of my body the blood had a thick, gooey consistency.
Is this normalNormal saline flush?
Is blood supposed to coagulate so quickly once outside the body? or is this something I might want to have checked?
Welcome to the Forum! How are you? The normal coagulation time in glass tubes is 5 to 15 minutes. The test is also called clotting time and 4 mL of blood is collected in a glass tube. This is then examined for clot formation. The first appearance of a clot is noted and timed. I hope this helps. Take care and best regards.
