Hi,

How is your great grand son? Mono or infectious mononucleosis, is caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). It is less severe in young children and symptoms may not be seen. It ca be transmitted by coughing or sneezing, sharing food or beverages from the same container or utensil. This is the reason why he should stay away from other children at this time. The illness is usually self-limited and treatment is directed toward the relief of symptoms. Let him rest and he will be fine after a few days.

Take care and best regards.
