Hi everyone, I'm an 18 year old male, and for the past 8 months I've been experiencing many frightening symptoms like all of you have. It all started out in January, one night I started feeling warm, my skin was red, and I was sweating-no fever. The next day I woke up and I was really weak, so I stayed home. I had no other symptoms besides that at that point. The symptoms than progressed to unbearable dizziness, I could barely stand.  A week later after all this was going on, I noticed that I was losing weight, so I went on the scale, and I had lost 12 pounds! I immediately made an appt with my doc. When I went in to see him, I told him about everything that was going on, and he said "It's just a virus". At the time I sort of believed him, but had some doubt, because I have never experienced anything like that with a virus. Days pass, and my symptoms got worse and worse, to the point that I thought I was going to die. I know that sounds bad, but it's true. My vision became weird, I was always dizzy, tired, weak, and just foggy. Than a few weeks later I noticed tingling injured hands and head, and it spread to my feet as time went on. It wasn't constant, but it freaked me out. My memory was starting to be affected, I couldn't remember things I had done earlier in the day, or what I did a few minutes ago. I had trouble finding words. I was than referred to a neurologist. She thought it was MS at first, so we did blood tests and an MRI, everything was clean, which was a relief, but doesn't help the fact that we have no idea what's causing my symptoms. She then ordered an eeg, and haven't had the results from that yet. She labeled it as anxiety in my last appointment, which is just Bologna. I would really appreciate someone's response, thanks!

Hi
I just read your story comment and have very similar symptoms plus vertigo that makes me feel like I'm always on a waterbed or boat. No doctor knows what it is. It's been 5 weeks and I'm scared.
Did you ever get better? How? How are you now?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? It is good to know that the MRI result was fine. Post-viral syndrome is a condition or conditions characterized by fatigue following a viral infection. It can occur for months or years following a severe viral infection. This usually presents with disabling fatigue, musculoskeletal pain, neurocognitive difficulties, mood disturbance and associated symptoms like nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite and sleep problems. Though debilitating, this condition improves over time. If the paralysis or weakness persists, you may also benefit from a referral to a neurologist for proper evaluation. Take care and best regards.
