Pericardial Cyst
Good morning
I had a large pericardial cyst removed in May of 2009. It was removed via VATS procedure and resection. I'm wondering if these can grown back?

Many thanks!

Hi,
How are you? Pericardial cysts are an uncommon benign congenital anomaly in the middle mediastinum  and surgery has been demonstrated as the only definitive cure. The management of pericardial cysts includes observation, percutaneous drainage, and resection.  However,  drainage alone  may lead to recurrences and surgery is more recommended.  It is best that you discuss this with your attending physician to ease any worry. Take care and regards.
