Hi,
How are you? Immediate removal of the piles or hemorrhoids may be done through surgery. The specific type of hemmorhoidectomy or surgery will depend on the extent and indication.  However, as mentioned above, it is important that direct clinical examination is done for proper management. Pain may be controlled with the use of anesthesia during the operation. But this needs to be discussed with the surgeon after evaluation of the hemorrhoids. Take care and best regards.

Hi,
Most people with anorectal fistula respond well to surgery and the pain may be managed with the stronger pain medications. Antibiotics, stool softeners, high fiber diet, fiber supplements and warm baths twice a day also help provide relief post-op. You can also have a second opinion from another colorectal surgeon prior to the surgery to ease any anxiety or confusion. Best regards.

Hi
Thanks for your comment. So I met the doc. He said i have a fistula.. He reccomended I have to do operation as the area has to be cut off . I asked him about the pain, yea i know the pain isnt there under anasthesia, but what about post-op?

My mom is  nurse & she says the pain is big post-op & i have to take a few weeks off from work as it takes time to heal ? Also I have been reading some articles on the net & I am scared about committing into the operation just now. im just so confused what to do... i really want to get rid of this

Hello,
Since you are having pain, so it looks like the hemorrhoids (piles) are already thrombosed. This results in bleeding, enlargement, pain, and difficulty in moving the bowels, surgical excision would be the best treatment.  In the meantime, you can do hot sitz bath by sitting on a shallow bucket with hot water three times a day.  The heat would help in relieving the discomfort and pain of the hemorrhoids. Eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, oats, porridge etc. Good sources of fiber are fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. In addition you can try bulk stool softener such as psyllium.

Specific treatment includes sclerotherapy, rubber band ligation, cryosurgery or Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy. Please consult a surgeon and get it evaluated.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
