Swollen artery in hand

by nowaypedro, Nov 06, 2009 09:33AM
Hi,

I have researched to what this could be, and I think I have a swollen artery between my index finger and thumb - in the fleshy part, on the back of the hand. It is pulsating and I have had this for many years, but it flares up now and then when I over-use that section of my left hand.

Please, does anyone know what this could be? It hurts too and the muscley area beneath is swollen slightly.

Hi,
How are you? Are there other symptoms like numbness or tingling? Another differential is a nerve-related condition. The muscles of the hand is usually supplied by a nerve that controls both the sensory and motor aspects. Warm compress may help with the swelling and over-the-counter pain medication may also provide relief. If it persists, have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management.Take care and do keep us posted.
