Thick Phlegm.

I started developing a serious problem on my nasal cavity, pharynx, epiglottis and throat. There is a thick phlegm that is forming in the regions mentioned above that suffocates me when I lay down and fall asleep. The feeling is horrible and I have to cough all the time and try to swallow the phlegm all the time in order to alleviate the problem. Sometimes it feels as if it is stuck on the end of the palate region and pharynx and it doesn't go down. I have strived to sleep all nights for about three months and I am having serious problems during the days for feeling tired.
Could you please help me with this situation?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? Are there other symptoms present? Thick phlegm or mucus can be caused by a variety of conditions such as infection, post nasal drip and even allergic reaction. Expectorants and drinking plenty of water may help. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evalaution. Your medical history, further tests and direct clinical examiantion will help determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
