Hello,
While taking a bath this morning I accidentally got a lot of water up my nose when attempting to rinse my hair in the tub. I snorted the water out, but naturally became paranoid of the water-borne amoeba that has been killing people in the Southern U.S. I live in San Francisco, and haven't heard of any cases here, but I'm certain that I may become the Bay Area's first case of N. fowleri encephalitis. I called over nine different institutions after my bath, starting with the CDC and ending with the local tap water authorities. I was told that the likelihood of San Francisco's water supply harboring this terrible protozoa is unlikely, but I'm still feeling the urge to start ticking off my days on a wall calendar. Or maybe I'll use one of those desk calendars I can pull the pages off of to underscore the finality of my time on this planet. I think I'm feeling a headache coming on as well. How do I overcome this phobia?
