large painless lump in front of ear

I have a large painless lump in front of my ear. It has been there almost 10 years and has not gave me any problems. It is a very hard lump and about the size of a large marble. It has gotten larger in the last 2 years. I have no insurance and when i did go to the dr a couple years ago they said it was a partiod gland and if it didn't hurt than to just leave it be. Im just worried . What would you suggest it was and what should i do about it?

Yes I agree with robin sounds like a cyst I had one on the sole of my foot and the palm of my hand I read that if you massage them regularly they diminish, so I did and yes they went away ..takes w hile but just massage the area a few times a day ..see if it works , you may also be able to get it removed .good luck
