medication and precocious puberty

Does Keppra cause precocious puberty?
Avatar dr f tn
Hi,
How are you? Keppra or levetiracetam is a medicine used to treat epilepsy and works by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain.  This medicine is used with caution in children and adolescents and should be taken as prescribed by a doctor.  Available data in children who take this medicine do not suggest an impact on growth and puberty. Not enough studies are present in association with precocious puberty. Take care and do keep us posted.
