testosteron level

I have a one year boy. My boy has small testicles, scrotum hypoplasia and the penis 3 cm lenght. We made hormonal determination LH, FSH and testosterone. The results are LH 22,10U/l (normal laboratory values 0,07-6,96 U/l) , FSH 133,9 U/l (normal laboratory values 0.07-3,62 U/l) and testosterone 0,08ng/ml (normal laboratory values 0,1-4,35 ng/ml). What shell we do? What can be the cause?  We should wait until his puberty or we must do something now.  Do you think administration of testosterone is indicated for his age? And if so, what is the risk for his future development and what are the secondary effects? Should we do some other test (TSH, Prolactinemia, …NMR)?

Hi,
How is your son? Male hypogonadism is decreased production of testosterone, sperm, or both; and rarely, decreased response to testosterone. This may result in delayed puberty or  reproductive insufficiency. Hypogonadism may be due to primary, secondary, and a type caused by defective androgen action. It is best that you check with your pediatrician for proper evaluation. Stimulation tests with human chorionic gonadotropin or gonadotropin-releasing hormone may be indicated. The treatment depends on the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
