what disease does this characterize?

by vnessa17, Nov 04, 2009 01:57PM
At age 3 a little girl only walks on her toes. She has a wadding gait, falls frequently, has trouble getting up again, and is not able to run because of diffuculty raising her knee. At age 5 there is progressive muscle weakness and muscle wasting. Weakness of the trunk muscles lead to increased lordosis and a protuberant abdomen. At age 9 she is confined to a wheel chair and contractures appeared, first in the feet as the gastrocnemius muscles tightened.
