I had bilateral mastectomies & Tram reconstruction (1 free flap, 1 attached) 12 yrs ago and just had an abdominal CT scan which showed "mild ascites" with no known cause. I would like to know if ascites is a potential side effect of this surgical procedure. Otherwise, I'm healthy & have been happy with the surgical as well as cosmetic results. Thank you.

Ascites is a fluid accumulation in the cavity in which your liver, intestines, pancreas, kidneys sit. This cavity can accumulate fluid because of many inflammatory reasons. It will be up to the doctor who ordered your test to advise you what to do next. There are many reasons why this has happened, and you really need to find out why this is happening to you as soon as possible.
