I just went and switched mine after being married for six years lol. I had to go to the social security office and have my marriage license (original with the raised seal), my social security card, id and birth certificate. It then took 24 hours for them to update their system so that the dmv had access to it so I could change my license. The social security office was free to change but the dmv was 32 dollars after taxes to get a new card.
Do you have to pay to switch your name at the dmv?
I got married in feb. Im from los angeles , ca. It was like 95 for the license and 25 for the civil wedding. We bought rings. The ceremony was 15mins long. We both dress up white dress and suit. Now if your changing your last name like I did. You will have to buy a marriage certificate that looks like your birth certificate take it to the dmv and switch your name on your id.
I live in AL too and it cost me $65 to get married at the courthouse. I didn't do my own vows just repeated what the judge said.
I didn't have to have witnesses (because a judge performed the ceremony) and rings were completely optional. There's a separate ser of vows for the rings. :) The vows were your typical movie vows. I honestly don't remember what I said.
No the witnesses dont have to be married i had my brother and he had his mom and for my experience they did the for better or worse speech and you may kiss the bride we didnt get to do our own vows though
Witness don't have to be married right? Well I'm getting the license tomorrow. Also.. Do they give vows like in church? I'm very very nervous
Rings yes but they dont have to be fancy an expensive. You will also need 2 witneses there as well
Are rings and all those fancy things required?
I'm 23, so....age wasn't a problem. Once you're 18 or 19, no parent permission required. Maybe make sure you can spell your parents' full names. Lol. Including your mom's maiden. I couldn't remember how to spell my mom's middle name.
I'm 23+4 not showing at all soo I'll be fine finding an outfit!! Another thing, your parents don't have to be there to sign anything do they? It wouldn't be a problem but they have a tight schedule.
The county courthouse for Alabama process. You'll have to research what your state does. We got the license at the same time we told them we wanted a judge to perform the ceremony. Took 30 minutes; had to wait for the probate judge to get there.
I got my marriage license at the dmv
Florida you have to get a marriage license at least three days before you get married. A few years ago that was almost 100 dollars amd then the court house was 30 dollars to do the ceremony. Call the court house and you can set up an appointment for the to do it :-)
lol u are right it is stress free..How did you get the marriage license? Or did u get it right then an there?
I was 6 months pregnant and still miraculously could fit into a size 2 Lilly dress. So I wore that white dress and red heels and my husband wore black pants and and red button down. :) Getting dressed was the most stressful part. You don't have to dress up, but I wanted to look great. :)
Alabama. And yeah. Just showed up with a photo ID and some cash. Haha.
Where are you from? Did u just show up and said "im getting married"? I'm very nervous!!
I got married at the courthouse. It was super easy and quick and stress free. Only regret was letting my father in law be there. We don't get along... But otherwise, I recommend it! :) only $5 (plus the cost of getting the marriage license, which you have to get anyways) where I'm from.
