My sister's ex husband lied about being a Navy SEAL. He was in the Navy but he wasn't ever no SEAL. Not only that but he was dishonorably discharged for going AWOL. Because he's a coward and a pathological liar. And he's a gigantic loser so he lied as an ego trip for himself. I feel like an idiot for falling for it but Oh Well.
So I guess my question is, has your husband been collecting some type of government benefits fraudulently? Or has he just been lying to people in general? If he didn't collect any benefits then he won't be sued for fraud. But either way, people are going to look down on him for lying about such a thing. He doesn't deserve the accolades for doing nothing while brave men and women have risked their lives.
Yes, I wonder that too. While it's always drama, lying is not something 'that' unusual. Having been in the military is something that some have in their history and some don't and if they lie about it, how is that hurting someone? Fraud is an accusation that requires someone being victimized by it. Lying in and of itself, is not a crime. something legal has to be involved. So, that's what we are trying to understand.
It's hard. It's humiliating. But it's life. And I personally think you hold your head up high. Your friends will still be your friends and if you do not react, it may blow over far quicker than you think.
Someone recently told me that her husband lied about some work experience early on in his career and told people also that he was an eagle scout which is an honor within scouting to the point people put it on their resume's here in the states. He wasn't ever an eagle scout. He benefited by feeling super awesome and getting kudos/respect he didn't earn from people for the eagle thing and he got a better job for the lying about experience early on in his career. The eagle thing is annoying but not illegal. the other, he misrepresented himself but he went on to have a good career and did a good job for the companies that hired him. He made a name for himself then.
so, I'm just wondering why the whole town would be interested in this and it is considered news paper worthy.
What did he gain from this? Before someone gets prosecuted, they have to have gained something by lying. Did he get free housing or some other kind of financial support - access to base commissary, etc? Did he claim some kind of heroism?
Hi. How did you find out and what (you don't have to give specific details) was the lie? Why did he lie? What's the explanation? Those details will really help. Lying is never good but the background would be helpful. sometimes people get caught up in things and don't know what to do to fix it so they keep the lie going. So, tell us more and we'll try to help!
