Obsession

There are tons of songs about Addiction to loving someone and being obessed...

I just wanted to know if any of you have been in love to that point.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

And is there different meanings to 'obsessed'?

I don't know if this makes sense..but i hope you can all get the gist of what i'm trying to say here.

Can obsession not be scary?

Obsession is bad in anything especially if one thinks they are obsessed with another person  bad bad and no i have never been obsessed with anyone or anything since i have never been obsessed i would not have anyidea if it would be scary, but i know people who say they are obsessed or someone is obsessed with them, which i think is all in thei mind  jo

one more thought...Obsession is considered a disorder. Here is the dictionary definition of obsession:

Definition
An obsession is an unwelcome, uncontrollable, and persistent idea, thought, image, or emotion that a person cannot help thinking even though it creates significant distress or anxiety.

Description
Obsessive ideas seem unnatural or alien to those who have them, but are nevertheless recognized as originating from the person's own thoughts—they are not seen as delusions sent or controlled by an outside party.

Obsession can become negative, unhealthy and potentially destructive and dangerous. It's not normal in a relationship when all you can think of 24/7 is the man (or for men women).

It happened to me in my youth and I will never permit the feeling of obession poison my thoughts.  Good luck, Judy

I do not think obsession is good. My best friend's boyfriend is obsessive and it is crazy. He wants to know what she is doing and with who, calls her 20-30 times a day (she probably picks up 5 times), texts her about 10- 50 times a day and manages to leave a couple to a few voice messages a day. He wants to know what time she gets home and know her work and school schedule. On top of all this they live in different states. We did a background check and he was charged with stalking a past girlfriend and and charged with harassment for another. So I think obsession makes people do dangerous things.... The sad part is that I think my best friend is obsessed in a way too for staying with him and still loving him soo much on top of all his issues.

obsession. n. an idea or thought that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind.

Have I been in love like that? yes, a couple of times.
Is it good or bad? that's subjective... I would say, dangerous.
Are there different meanings? not really. obsession is obsession... I can't see any other meaning that one could apply to the word.
Can obsession not be scary? no. anything that entails a lack of control is a scary thing.
