"Romance" Ideas

Hi everyone.  So, romance is an important subject in a relationship and with our busy lives and all the hustle and bustle, can get overlooked.  Romance means different things to different people.  Some like a "thing" and will feel loved from a gift, others like a sexy, hot night, others like to feel nurtured and like someone cares for them, etc.  Lots of ways to be romantic and show our significant other we love them.

So, I thought I'd throw it out there and see if people would share their romantic ideas of things they've either tried or have enjoyed from their partner.  We can all get ideas, right?

Erik is always doing odd romantic things for me.  The best thing he ever did was write a song about me.  He put it on his EP last he released at the end of last year.  I have never been able to sit through it without crying.  The song describes me to a tea.  The name of the song is "No More Misery"

Oh, I love that you guys shared and what great ways you all show and have been shown love!

Speaking of notes, I'm a big fan of writing them myself.  I've written them since we married.  I put one in his pocket the day of our wedding (as he is more of the girl sometimes in our marriage and he was a nervous wreck!!), I wrote him one when our children were born about how glad I was that we'd found each other and started a family, etc.  I wrote plenty when he left on long trips and I'd hide them in his book he was taking or in a pocket of something he'd packed.  Well, here is the part where it feels really romantic to me.  My husband left for an international trip last weekend and he asked me to double check in his computer bag to see if he had his passport in there.  So I did and I unzipped an inner pocket.  In that pocket were lots of notes I have written him but not shoved in there, he had them in a little notebook along with pictures of me and the kids.  I was looking at it when he walked into the room and he said that he looks at it when he's gone on his trips when he feels lonely.  He's lucky I let him leave after that!!

Okay, romantic?  I recently gave up pop . . . which I love.  Dr. Pepper in the daytime and a rootbeer at night!  I loved it.  But I gave it up and stopped buying any pop.  One day I had had a really bad day . .. everything went wrong.  After I got the kids to bed and was sitting there trying to figure things out---------  my husband brought me something.  A rootbeer!  He said I deserved a treat on my bad day.  He'd gone out at 9 pm and gotten this from a convenience store.  I don't know why that touched me so much but it did.  It was like my old friend (husband) had brought me my old friend (rootbeer) and I felt comforted.  And isn't it nice to have someone know you so well to know what a treat would be for you?

I love the moon and stars . . .I may have to steal that!

My "new" Husband (27years in August) and I both LOVE romance!! - 2 of my favorites:

He sings to me EVERY morning in the shower, composing the words and tunes as He sings, inserting "special" words discriptive of Us and our Relationship.  It is SO romantic!! and such a great way to start our day!!
Early in Our Relationship He commented that He couldn't wait to Make Love with me under the Moon and the Stars - so early in Our Marriage I attached a glow-in-the-dark Moon and a gouping of Stars to Our ceiling right above Our bed so we ALWAYS Make Love under the Moon and Stars.

Thanx, SpecialMom, this

My wife and I took about a 6 mile hike yesterday.  It was the first nice day weather wise in months, and it ws just the 2 of us, holding hands and enjoying each others company.  To me, that being alone time, regardless of what really happens is romantic.  (Unfortunately she lost an inexpensive, but her favorite necklace....dammit)

Again, just alone time with the one you love is very romantic to me.... and not that I am a cheap skate, but it is pretty cost effective.

My husband gives really thoughtful gifts.  Not romantic gifts,  but things you could tell he REALLY thought about.  Our first year together he bought me an extension phone for my bedroom so I could talk to him quietly without being in the main room of our apartment that was always noisy and filled with people (way back in the dark days before mobile phones or even cordless!).  I thought yeegads,  what kind of an  unromantic thing is THAT?  But really,  SO thoughtful.

Then later there was this t-shirt I saw and REALLY loved but didn't buy at the time,  and wished so much I had bought it.  The t-shirt had a pink "while you were out" note on it.  The note was TO:  Dorothy  From:  Em  Message:  A woman came by in a bubble today.  Said she knew you.

HAHAHAHAHA what a great shirt!  So my darling husband MADE that shirt for me,  who knows at what expense.  I love it.

He just thinks before he gives,  and it's not usually some frilly romantic thing like lingerie or flowers,  (but sometimes it is) but it's always something you can tell he really thought about.

That's love.

I think all those things are good. But that goodbye kiss in the morning with that look of shear love in those eyes as he exits for the day leaves me warm all over for the whole day. Or him making that cup of coffee and fixing it the way I like it and bringing it to me out of the blue. Or something as simple as doing the dishes because I have a headache without me asking. But the bestest of all is that feeling you are being stared at and you look up and he is watching you with a whimsical look in his eye just because he enjoys it. Nah, getting  stuff just doesnt give the same feelings. And when you have been married as long as I have, when you go out to eat you do just that, you eat and worry about how much it costs. lol  Just the simplist things in life can be the most romantic..... Oh and how he tries to make the bed in the morning just because he knows it will satisfy me, even tho he does do a ****** job of it. lol

I don't really like getting gifts so much as I enjoy small things that my fiance does for me. My fiance loves to leave random notes in my purse or back back telling me about how much he loves me and can't wait until I am his wife. He'll text me any time during the day to tell me that he is thinking of me. He knows I love hiking and surprised me by showing up on a Saturday morning to take me on this amazing hike to a beautiful waterfall. He has bought me gifts here and there as well, which are appreciated. He bought me a calendar white board to use to help me stay organized when I was getting too overwhelmed with everything going on in my life. He's bought me a rose just because and brought me soup when I was feeling sick. I do feel very lucky to have him.

I personally enjoy written notes--given and received. ☺ What great about this is that there's so many ways to do it, and you can make it as long or short and sweet as you want.
For example, we have a white board on the wall at home for making notes about errands and daily chores and such. My husband is mainly the one to use it. I wrote on it one day "I ♥ My Hubby!" It took him a day or two to notice, lol. But it's still on the board!
I've also written him short notes in greeting cards, and given him the random love note for no reason at all. He saves every one of them. ☺
I keep bugging him to write me a note that he promised to do for Valentine's Day because he misplaced my card, lol--he still has yet to do it. Writing isn't his thing, lol...but I like bugging him about it.
He's more of the type to give gifts and/or take me places. He has spoiled me rotten over the last four years! Usually when he gets a gift, he goes all out...sometimes I wish he'd be a little less liberal with the checking account, but at the same time, I can't complain. Sometimes he's really original and other times he's predictable. For our first wedding anniversary last year, he bought me roses with chocolates and a teddy bear and also a white gold cross necklace embedded with small diamonds. Then we went on a two day trip to the beach--with our 7 month old and 5 year old sons, since we had no one to watch them, lol. All of it was entirely his idea and he pretty much organized everything.

He also helps me SO MUCH around the house. That may not sound so romantic, but it sure does make me appreciate him beyond words. ☺
