conversion disorder?

I have been in a very emotionally, verbally abusive relationship for the last 3 1/2 yrs with my husband.  Sometimes of course he is good as gold.  in the last year i have been going thru alot of physical problems.  I have recently been told i have conversion disorder i read  a little on it and boy it makes sense.  I have major vision problems, gait issues, seizures that arent from epilepsy.  I have other mental disorders also.  My question is ...from what i have read it should only last a few weeks. well, it has been months that this has been going on.  My husband and i decided to separate while we each get therapy etc so i can get better.  is it normal for it to last months?  i was recently in the hospital, i had so many tests.  All the medical tests came back good, exception to having fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome.  I want to get better.  to get my life back, get off my walker, be able to drive again.  Right now i cant drive becuase of double vision problems.  what type of therapy is best for me? did we make the best decision to separate while i heal and he gets help?  i am doubtful therapy will help him because he really isnt one to "follow rules" etc.  he doesnt like to admit guilt at all.  i am still trying to learn about this disorder but i cant seem to find anyone else that has had it.  can i get better if i do the work? i am not afraid of working hard, i have done many years of therapy until about 6 years ago.  thank you

I was told I may have a conversion disorder, which to me is a doctors way to excuse him/herself from actually treating something that may be wrong. (NOT ALL DOCS ARE LIKE DR. HOUSE ON TV) they dont want to look for a problem that may be causing the issues. I think CD is a farce to women everywhere!

We have a LOT in common with our symptoms. Be well, Patty

With converison disorder there are physical malfunctionings, mostly involving sensory motor areas. People show a "la belle indifferenece".  people have things going wrong with they physically because they have other things going on...in your case an abusive husband. but those with conversion disorder typically dont reconize things are going "wrong" with them physically and have a lack of concern towards their sypmtoms. and they retain most normal functions but lack awareness. most with conversation disorder are said to have some sort of trama. and part of the treatment is attending to the trauma. theres not really a set type of treatment. theres more of a talking things out and such. most people get better on their own.

i wanna make sure i dont mess you up and have talked about somatization disorder. their have similar things.
