allergic fungal rhinitis

by daydreamer1, May 01, 2009 11:54AM
I have been diagnosed with allergic fungal rhinitis. Had surgery on 12/18/09 Fundoscopy type. After that the ENT changed the diagnosis, b/c found no positve fungal culture, but positive pseudomonas and staph. So no aggressive followup for fungus. 2nd ENT opinion has reconfirmed that AFS  had been a correct diagnosis in beginning .It is back full force, and 2nd ENT won't touch it. I want to go to a clinic that specializes in this asap. I know I will have to have surgery again. Where should I begin? Asthma is out of control too. I am tapering down from 20mg/day oral prednisone, given by IM for asthma exacerbations, but this is out of her realm also. ENT in her group is the first one who operated, and since I changed insurance companies to one they don't take, they are advising me to find a BCBS provider. I have two boys I have to raise yet.Pls help me with what to do next.

Your second ENT is smart, won't touch your AFS because there's no good medical treatment, yet, and you know that surgery doesn't always work longterm.  Regular sinus irrigation doesn't work because of gravity.  Here is something that does work, The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush.

It will work by washing all of the fungus out of your sinuses, which, as mentioned in the journal, will cure it.  It's a risky procedure, because you have to bend over in a shower, ideally, but you can also do it outside on soft ground.

By the way, the doctor who has the patent to find a sinus anti-fungal also believes that asthma is caused by a fungus, and I agree that some forms of it may be.
