It could be from the lining of the lung (pleurisy) or from other causes in the area, such a nerve pain going to your ribs. A CT scan of the chest my be the next step in the evaluation of this pain.
I have had a stitch pain on my right side as well but I can not say that it hurts differently when I walk. The pain does catch my breath and I have a difficult time breathing for several minutes. My pain is localized in the one area, lower back on the right side. I had a baby 10 months and then developed a Pulmonary Embolism just days later. This pain is in the same location the PE was located, but at least I am able to breathe where as before with the PE, I could not catch a breath. I saw my doctor and he seems to feel it is muscle spams or kidney related and not anything to do with my lung. I would think muscle spams would involve more than a consistant localized area. I had an x-ray of my pain area, but my doctor has not contacted me on the results at this point. My question is, could the PE have caused damage to that part of my lung that is causing the pain?
