2 breathing issues

2 breathing issues

HI,
I am 37 and overweight 5'2" 195 lbs.
1.Sometimes  in the morning after hitting the snooze button I feel that I am hardly breathing. It is like I am just laying there and I can tell that I am breathing incredibly shallow. What could this be?

2. Also, sometimes when exhaling I get a dull ache, it feels like it is right under my chest bone (does that make sense) I will be exhaling and then all of a sudden an achy feeling comes. It is kind of scary. It is not a sharp pain, but an achy feeling.

Any advice would help.
THANKS!!

Being overweight is often associated with obstructive sleep apnea.  That means that a person periodically, sometimes with regularity, stops breathing for intervals of a minute or more.  This is associated with shallow breathing and results in disordered sleep patterns that prevents truly restful sleep.  This is usually not associated with the chest ache you describe.  That sounds more like chest wall pain and could be caused by an arthritic condition of one or more ribs where they join your chest bone.  Tenderness to touch would support that diagnosis.

You should definitely have a sleep study and a chest x-ray.
