2 weeks with no AIR

I'm new here and found the respiratory section helpful. I don't normally have shortness of breath, however for the last 2 weeks I cannot take a deep breath. I have a DR appt. in a few days, but this condition is driving me crazy. I am a light smoker, (yes quitting soon) and have had some medical issue recently including an ectopic pregnancy and skin cancer carcinoma removed. The darvocet's made me lethargic and have nightmares so I stopped taking them. I didn't have pain, just wanted to relax after all the stress. Could this be the cause of my shortness of breath ? I've never had asthma or any other chronic medical problems, am very healthy at 36, however, our life is somewhat stressful on a regular basis. (business owners)  Maybe it's just anxiety. Any clues ????

There are many causes of being "short of breath".  These can relate to your lungs, your heart and even to anxiety.  I think the best recommendation for you is to see your doctor to try to determine the cause.  This will probably involve a good history and physical examination, in addition to possibly some testing.  These could include a pulmonary function test to determine if your lungs are the problem and an electrocardiogram.

I am no doctor, so please dont take what i say to heart, ive read a lot about respitory issues and it sure seems like stress is causing your shortness of breathe, but it is wise to see a doctor whome probably will refer you to a pulmonologist.
