by tinawoodard, Sep 18, 2008 11:14PM
Hi I have a 3 year old boy how has breathing problems. We have been through so much in the past three year. We have been in the hospital about 5 or 6 times thoughout the years. His fever would go up to 103 a few times a year he would always throw up just abou every day or about 2 times a week. I have had alot of trouble keeping weight on him. we have been to an upper gi specialist. They say he has reflux bet nothing really works for it. His eyes are alway red. He used to get sick all the time. but not as mush any more. I thought it was alleriges. So we went to an allerigest and they put him on brething medicine to take every day. the medicine is abruteral and polmocaort. His chest is always sunk in and when he breaths its like he will take a breath and hold it in and waits a few and then let it out you can hear it when he dose it. I think something is triggering it what whould you think it was. And what should I do about it.my son is curently sick right now he cant breath well he is stoped up and his breathing is heavy. the doctor told me to put him on breathing treatment every day for the next few months but i dont want him to depend on that to breath. what would you think he has

Have you taken him to see a pulmonologist? That would be a good idea if you haven't done this yet. As far as your son's digestive problems, does he eat well and still have problems keeping weight on? How are his stools? (If he isn't digesting his food properly, especially fats, they tend to be large and will float...also will have an awful smell).
There are a few things that come to mind...one is did the doctor's test him for any immunodeficiencies. That could explain why he is so sick often. Another thing to consider is ruling out other diseases like cystic fibrosis. (I am not saying that he has this, only that maybe he should get it ruled out) which primarily affects the lungs as well as the digestive system. Of course there are other disorders out there that your son can be tested for..that's why it is important that he sees a lung specialist.

I hope that you find answers soon...I can't imagine your frustration right now...Sunny
