32 year old Multiple Pulmonary Nodules

I am a 32 year old recovered heroin addict, I was addicted to prescription pain killers for 10+ years, then did heroin for about a year or little more. Then I got on Methadone Maintenance 5 years ago and quit smoking shortly after. Heart disease in the family and I even have a cardiac stent which I had to get when I was 28. So I don't do any drugs or smoke anymore. I had been on Lipitor for a ouple years for my cholesterol, and it inflammed my liver, I went to the hospital a month ago to get it checked out to make sure something else wasn't going on. I get fatigued very easily and have some slight shortness of breath, I feel like I have to take a deep breath.

Anyway, on the abdominal CT they saw a cavitary lesion on the bottom of my lung. They ruled out TB and did a chest CT. I showed 2 more cavitary lesions, involving both lungs. They said they are not solid, and are groundish glassish, larger than 1.0cm. The pulmonologist team said it doesn't look like cancer, and they ran all kinds of tests for infections but came up with nothing. They did an echo of the heart and was neg. They sent me home with an appointment at the pulmonary clinic in about 6 weeks. They want me to get a CT scan again a week before the appointment.

Of course, I am scared to death, I am so scared that it is lung cancer, and feel terrible not really knowing what they are. I am not coughing at all so I think that is a good thing. But I would love to hear someone else's opinion on this. Thanks

Yeah, it was a university hospital, a teaching hospital, so the senior pulmonologist came in with his residents and all, they said it didn't look cancer, they said plus I look great, almost totally asymptomatic, save for the fatigue and slight shortness of breath, but thaat is probably from my liver inflammation. I have an appt with them on June 25th and am doing a second CT a week before. Thanks for your post, I haven't read yours but am going to shortly. I am sure you know how I feel. Yeah, quit drugs, smoking, went back to school, got a degree, got a great job, completely turned my life around. So it would really seem odd to get taken out by this after all that, I think god has other plans for me. I hope :)

Read my posts - I have lung nodules - had 3 CT Scans done so far - was scared to death after my first CT Scan - nodules and ground glass opticates.  So I know how you feel......Your probably going to be ok (NO cancer) - and I am so very glad you gave up your drugs - (that probably saved your life)...what does your doctor want to do - follow up with additional CT Scans?
