Abnormal Chest Xray

For the past few months I have had a sinus infection that just will not go away. I have a long history of this. Last week I went to the clinic and made them take a chest xray because my chest has been hurting for awhile now too. The doctor told me that I have a couple of spots on my chest that need to be looked at further. The spots are in the middle of my left lung. I have been coughing up dark green mucas for months now. Should I be worried? I won't know anything until next week.

Chest problems as a complication of chronic sinus infections is fairly common.  A CT scan of the sinuses is also indicated to get to the cause of the chest problems.  Drainage with secondary coughing, wheezing and infection are probable effects of chronic sinus infections.

I am no doctor but coughing up green sounds like you have infection in there that might have started from your sinuses. Sinuses like to drip in the back of your throat and sometimes settle into the lungs. I have that problems as I have cystic fibrosis with very thick mucus....my infections start with the sinuses and then go south most times, just the nature of the beast. Doesn't mean you are cystic in any way, just means your sinuses could have been the source. Hopefully your doc will order a sputum sample so that he or she can see if you do have an infection and what the organism is and prescribe the right treatment. MY DAUGHTER WENT TO THE URGENT CARE IN NOVEMBER WITH SINUS INFECTION AND THEY TOOK AN XRAY AND SAID SHE HAD PNEUMONIA. I GLANCED AT THE XRAY AND IT LOOKED LIKE WHITE SPOTS ON IT. I FIGURED IT WAS THE PNEUMONIA. HAD TO TAKE HER BACK IN JANUARY AND SAW THEM AGAIN. SO I ASKED AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS HISTOPLASMOSIS, A LITTE CONCERNED I EXPLAINED WE HAD NOT BEEN AROUND BIRDS, MICE ETC. BUT AFTER ALLERGY TESTING FOUND OUT SHE WAS ALERGIC (allergic) TO THE CAT. WHICH WE FOUND A NEW HOME IMMEDIATLY. THEN HE SAID OH, ITS CALCIUM. I WANTED A KNOWLEGABLE ANSWER SO WE WENT TO OUR PEDIATRICIAN AND SHE SENT US TO A RADIOLOGIST WHO TOOK MORE XRAYS HE ASSURED US IT WAS HER BLOOD VESSELS. I WANTED TO BE ABSOULUTLY SURE SO WE WENT TO CHILDRENS MERCY (PEOPLE WERE TELLING ME THAT BLOOD VESSELS DON'T SHOW ON XRAY). THE PULMONOLOGIST BELIEVES THAT THEY ARE BLOOD VESSELS BUT IS SENDING HER FOR A CAT SCAN ON FRIDAY. HAS ANYONE HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE???? THANKS, WENDYE
