Advice On Allergy/Asthma Medications

i was never officially diagnosed with asthma 3 years ago i woke up and was having problems breathing..went to the dr he gave me albuterol inhaler used it for 3 years i had to use it everyday several times a day for 3 years then i was no longer under insurance and i still had my albuterol but it started affecting me very negatively causing upset stomach, tightness in the chest, extreme anxiety while this happened i took xanax to combat the anxiety and then felt worse on that after about 5 days...im almost positive my breathing problems are due to allergies.i bought an air purifier really hasnt made a huge difference..i have xopenex inhaler now i was giving azmacort steroid and singulair but to scared to use any of these things due to side effects i might encounter due to me be very sensitive as of late ive always had anxiety the only medication im on right now is prevacid for heart burn.im pretty sure its dust/dust mites that cause my reaction i have carpet in my room but its kind of hard for me to get rid of it right now but im going to eventully like i said this only started 3 years ago and ive always been sensitive to dust.so what im asking is with my history of anxiety and problems im worried if i start like the singulair i will expierence bad side effect and thats the last thing i need right now its liek a double edged sword i know singulair can help but ive heard alot of people have tons of side effects from it but i also heard tons of people it has helped and the azmacort i tried intitally for like 2 days and i felt like it was drying my throat up so much to the point where i felt like my throat was closing so basically im looking for opinions and advice on if i should start either of these or both or any alternatives i expierence some sort of allergy problem or shortness of breath at least once a day

Unfortunately side effects cannot be predicted.

If you so much as think or anticipate some undesirable side effects, you probably should be somehow monitored till you feel safe. It need not be an in the hospital thing, unless preferred,  as perhaps a good friend could be your monitor.

I also have asthma and have anxiety problems. It is truth that the asthma medication makes me more anxious but I'm taking them. Maybe you should try the steroids and sigulair for 1 month and see how you feel, so you can decide whether you want to continue with them or not. everybody has different side effect to these meds so unless you try them you won't know if they are good for you or not.
If the doctor ask me to take oral steroids for long time I would definitely be afraid but inhaled steroids are not as bad, they go directly to your lungs. I do have a side effect from the inhaled steroids, my voice is a little rough sometimes. I also tried singulair for a month but it didn't make any difference on my asthma so I stopped it.
hopefully this help!
