Anyone know?

Just got back from the pulmonary doctor.  I had a CT Scan which showed emphysema ... had a spirometry done - which was NORMAL --- had me walk around the building a few times with this thing on my finger that measured my saturation and my pulse - it came out NORMAL.  Go figure - how could that be - when my CT Scan shows emphysema.
I am really worried about the scattered ground glass and nodules 2 mm to 7 mm.

You can have emphysema, mild for a while and not be symptomatic. Sounds weird to me too. I got bronchitis and went to the doctor who referred me for a chest x-ray. Came back that I had moderate emphysema. I was stunned because I had no symptoms at all. So, I got a second opinion with a pulmonologist. He did the spirometry and looked at the x-ray. Said yes, I had moderate emphysema and sent me home with an emergency inhaler, advair and told me not to fly!  I had no symptoms at all, but in the last couple of weeks have started to have periods of shorness of breath and fatigue. If you had a ct and a spirometry which are normal, I would wait a couple weeks and redo the chest exray? And take it from there.

Why can't you fly?  Yes - after I got diagnosed I started having shortness of breath too - I was OK until I was diagnosed, go figure??????????

My CT Scan showed the emphysema not the chest X-Ray.

I am 57 - how young are you?

Have you had to use the inhaler?  I got a prescription for one - didn't fill the prescription.  When I did the spirometry - I did worse after they did the treatment - so I am better off without it I think?

Hugs and happy 4th of July,
