Asthma and/or Croup

My daughter is six and has recently(Jan2004) been diagnosed with allergic asthma. This morning she woke up with a horrible croupy cough(the traditional seal-bark) and a low-yellow peak flow number. I gave her all the daily meds(advair and singulair) and also a breathing treatment(xopenex) Then I wondered....IS this croup or is this asthma and did I do OK by giving her these meds IF it is croup? We had a little rain and a decrease in temp. three days ago which set off the congestion, then day two after the rain and temp change a slight cough was added and then BAM this morning she was pretty nasty......deep cough, congestion, and she was complaining and holding the base of her neck and crying after the cough.Sorry to ramble.....I guess my question was simple

Croup or Asthma and can they be treated in the same manner or should I not give certain meds if it is croup?
