Attack whilst asleep

I wake up in the middle of the night abruptly and feel like i am trapped, my heart rate increases and my blood pressure rises very suddenly, I am shaking inside and gasping for air, my mouth is dry, I am sweating on my chest, both my hands go numb and and I feel faint. When this happens my daughter has told me she has seen me drift off like I am going to faint, and when she speaks to me I do not answer her straight away and have come close to fainting. I also have symptoms of diarrhea when this happens and dizziness
My husband has called the doctor to our home on several occasions, scared incase it maybe signs of a heart attack. The doctor treats me with a drug called lexotanil every time this happens.

Please tell me what this could be as I am very worried and scared to sleep most nights.

hi maria, i think you should take an appointment with a cardiologist and a pulmonologist. They will suggest you a battery of tests to rule out any heart or lung related disease.
