Back Pain (upper and lower) and trouble breathing when I wake up in morning

by gregjudy90, Aug 20, 2008 12:27PM
I too have this same problem.  When I wake up in the morning my back is very stiff and hurts to move.  I have difficulty breathing it is more pronounced in the morning then during the day.  I do smoke so I am sure if I were to quit it would help out a great deal.  I have been dealing with the back pain for approx. 3+ years went to the doctor about a 1 1/2 ago they took x-rays did not find anything to severe but did say that I had a mild case of arthritis in the lower back.  Thye went ahead and referred me to a physical therapist and the stretching excercises seemed help somewhat but not enough.  After about going for two months they said there was nothing else they cold do except for me to continue the excersises on my own at home, which I seem to not find the time to do it.

I have thought about buying a new mattress but do not have the money to do so this mattress is only 6 years old and is a pillow top not cheap so you would think if it were to be the mattress the back pain would of started when I first bought the mattress. Mattress's should be good for 10+ years if you buy a good quality one.

Now there are times when I sleep at a hotel and I do get the best night sleep that I have not gotten in awhile.

I do occassionally take some sleeping pills like tylenol PM, maybe I should start taking one with Advil in them.  Then again I do not want to start taking sleeping pills all the time and get addicted to them.  I know they have other sleeping pills out there that are non-habit forming but they do not have a pain killer in them.

Any further info would help
