What is a basilar infiltrate in laymen's terms

Hi Dawg2222,

Basilar means the trunk or bottom of the lung(s).

Infiltrate (of the lungs) means a filling of the air spaces, with...

1. Fluid, such as water, or lymph.

2. Inflammatory substances, such as pus, white cells, or proteins

3. Cells, such as tumor cells, red blood cells, or a hemorrhage (broken vessel).

This when seen on images stands out as an increased tissue density.
