Blood spitting

I was smoker 7 years ago.  For the last two months I have been spitting blood when I wake-up in the mornings, after a full night sleep.  It started a few months ago with small quantities of blood spitting and has increased in the last week.  The blood spitting ocurrs only after laying down for a period of time.  This blood spitting does not ocurr once I am awake (during the day). I had blood test and chest X-rays, coming both with normal results.  What do you believe my symptoms are leading to, and/or what further tests should be performed to find out the exact cause.

I've had the same exact problem, except it's gotten a lot better the last month or two...  I've also been a smoker for about a year now and thought maybe that had something to do with it too
