Bloodclots in the lungs

My son has bloodclots in the lungs and nothing can be done for him. His last visit to the Doctor, he was told that they were just like they were . He is on a blood thinner. He was told to come back in 6 months. He went to the Kidney specialist and was told that he had something the size of a thumb growing out of his kidney and also something in his kidney. This doctor will not do anything for him for 6 months either because of the blood clots in the lungs. He is 47 yrs old and seems like" a accident waiting to happen". Nothing can be done for him. His blood pressure is really high most of the time. His Primary Doctor thinks that the problem with the kidneys could be the reason for the high blood pressure..Do you know if there is help anywhere for him?
