Breathing Problems

by greenday gal, Oct 19, 2006 12:00AM
I am a 23 year old who was healthy with the worse infection being mono six months ago. about one month ago I had a panic after taking a benedryl tab. my throat felt numb and I couldnt catch my breath. After that i began experiencing a extremely tight throat and episodes of panic because of this. I recently went to the Er in panic and had blood tests ran which were fine and blood ox was 98 or 99. the tight feeling in neck and throat only continues. My family doctor gave me 20mg of Paxil about a month ago and then 2 weeks ago uped it to 40mg. I am also on ativan to help me relax.
My symptoms persist and i am fearful that I have an undiagnosed cancer in my throat or perhaps thyriod issues. or do i just need to wait for the meds full effects
Thank you

With the concerns that you are having, seeing an ENT for a thorough exam of your throat may make you feel more comfortable.  It is unclear how long it will take the medicine to reach its full effect and relieve your fears.

i was on paxil for about 4 years and been off for a year now, still suffering withdrawal effects and side effects.
