Breathing Problems

I only 15 years old and I have breathing problems. I am very sportive. I can take little breath but those big breaths are hard to take. It feels like their is a belt around my lungs. I've had red around my stool a few days ago. I checked my blood, heart, pulmonary test and chest x-ray, and everything was fine. Someone please help me because this feeling is very disturbing. I don't feel like myself anymore.

This discussion is related to breathing, bloating, having to yawn to get air.

I am glad that your heart tests and lungs have checked out. Does this happen when you are active or all of the time? If this only happens when you are exerting yourself, it could be exercise induced asthma. Lung function tests can come up normal with asthma, did they do a methacholine challenge test while doing the lung tests? Just curious.
I hope that you find answers soon...Sunny

I have this all the time, and I doubt that it is asthma since I tried several pumps and none of them help. I don't think I took the methachlonine challenge, can you please explain what it is? Thank you very much.

What they do with a methacholine challenge is the tech gives you a nebulizer of this med after you have done the first set of lung function tests. The tech will then have you repeat the lung function tests and look for any reduction in your values, mainly the FEV1 and FVC (FEV1 is the amount of air you can forcefully blow out in one second, the FVC it he amount of air that you can blow out entirely after taking the deepest breath you can). A 20% or more decrease in the FEV1 value indicates a "positive" test...this would mean that you do indeed have bronchial hyper reactivity (indicative of asthma)
Remember, I am not a doc, the best thing you can do is to talk to your parents and doc about this to see if this test would be a good one to pursuit, especially since the other tests have been unrevealing.
I hope this helps :) Sunny
