Breathing problems

Hi, can anyone offer advice on a problem that is causing great distress. I am 48 male and for the last five years have had a worsening respiratory problem. Nobody seems to be able to diagnose what it is but it's causing great distress. As the day progressess my nasal passages get more and more blocked until I can only breathe through my mouth. I talk to groups for a living as a trainer I keep having to stop for breath and have to push air out up through my throat after a few words. This has actually cost me a job interview the other day. The interviewer had to stop my presentation and asked why I seemed to struggle to breathe as I speak. It is destroying me and I know that this one problem lost me a new job.It it worse in damp or extreme hot days but always gets worse as the day goes on-afternoons and evenings. I actually thought it was a side affect of Zolpadem (ambian)sleeping tablets which I have taken every single night for five years. It was the five years coincidence that made me think that(this problem seemed to come on around that time and got worse.) But when I suffer(every day now) I notice that my sinus passages feel physically completely blocked and speaking and breathing through just the mouth causes stress and embarrassment in my job. This is why I don't know what it is, a combination of blocked sinuses, asthma and stress? It happens every time I drive in the car too. Please can someone help. I have the most unimpressive doctor in the world who simply seems to exist to write prescriptions.I really hope someone can help. Thanks

I'm a 25 year old female. For the last week or so I've been yawning excessively so that I can breath. I've had shortness or breath and some joint discomfort. I've also been experiencing fatigue.

A doctor prescribed Prednisone for the joint pain. Maybe I'm reacting to that.

I exercise regularly and do not have a cough. Any ideas of what could be causing this problem.

You do not sound like you have asthma at all.  You have something going on with you sinus area.  You need to get rid of the primary care doctor and go see an ear, nose and throat doctor ASAP.  The fact that you have been on a sleeping pill for 5 years does not sound very good.  You should try sudafed or allergy medicine.

You should ask your doctor for a course of steroides whci can really clear up your sinus.  See the ear nose and throat doctor is what you really need to do.  There is no quick easy solution when it comes to your sinus's.
