Bronchitis Questions

by psuppan, Oct 19, 2007 12:48PM
Hi there,

My name is Pat and about 2 weeks ago I was sick with a stomach flu. It eventually went away but about a week ago I started getting a very bad cough with chest pains and dizziness. I went to the doctors on Wednesday and she took a chest x-ray and said I had bronchitis. She prescribed me an anti-biotic called Gen-Clarithromycin, quite expensive too. Anyways all weak and even more now after Wednesday I have felt weak and just all around energy drained, I am eating normal and drinking plenty of fluids and taking medication like Buckley's Daytime Pills and Contact Night Time to help me sleep. The thing is I am feeling more weak and drained today (Friday), is there anything that I can take or do that will help me feel better. I've got a wedding to go too on Saturday and I cannot back out since I am in the wedding party. I just want to feel better.

To add I am 23 years old, I do smoke but I am trying not too smoke since the doctors told me that it would in my best interest to not smoke at least until I am better but I am going to shoot for quitting all in all. I also do get sick about 5-6 times a year.

If anybody could help me out or give me some advice because it's kind of starting to freak me out a little bit.

Thanks for your time.
-Pat

Please check with your doctor to determine what you can do to feel better.

Quitting smoking is definitely the best thing that you can do for yourself.  Everyone in the United States has free access to telephonic counseling for quitting tobacco at Quitline (800) QUIT NOW.  You may want to look at our giving up smoking information at http://www.nationaljewish.org/disease-info/wellness/smoking/index.aspx for ways to help you quit smoking.  Also check with your doctor for other quit smoking resources in your area.  Good luck.
