CHF

I've just been dx w/CHF.  Is it possible for the chronic bronchitis I've had over the last 10 yrs have caused my CHF?

Could the dx of chronic bronchitis have actually been CHF in it's earlier stages?

Thanks very much,

Chronic bronchitis is a cough with mucus that lasts for at least 3 months in a row 2 years in a row.  This does not directly cause congestive heart failure (CHF).  Low blood oxygen levels over time can lead to CHF.  Chronic bronchitis is one of many problems that can cause a low blood oxygen level.

CHF refers to failure of the left side of the heart.  The left side of the heart pumps blood to the rest of the body.  It can be confused with cor pulmonale.  This refers to failure of the right side of the heart.  The right side of the heart pumps blood to the lungs.

It is unlikely that chronic bronchitis could be mistaken for CHF or vice versa.
