CHILD PHNEUMONIA

CHILD PHNEUMONIA

hi, my four year old son came down with phneu.after he was misdiagnosed for a 2 mnth caugh that went to bonrc. then 2 phneu. since then everytime he comes down with a runny nose it quickly turns to bronc. with in four days. my doctor said he has allergies and asthma but he neverhad it before when we lived in OR. he was very healthy before we moved to Sac.CA. we have no history of asthma and he has never had allergies but they want to continue to give him inhalers and inhaled sterioids and keep him on allergie med. for mnths at atime with out even testing him for allergies or asthma. will he ever get over his phneumonia and do you think that his lungs have completely healed. he caught phneu. in march 2002. they have never explained to me the damaging effects of phneu. in a child and i am afraid that he is being misdiagnosed for asthma. when i ask for him to be tested for allergies they put me off and give him diff meds. can you please help educ. me on what to do.
thank you
sincerely,
worried mom

Most cases of pneumonia do heal without any long-term problem.  If your son continues to have symptoms and requires medications on a regular basis, you may wish to consult with a Board Certified Pediatric Allergist in your local area.  This type of doctor can determine if your son is allergic and has asthma, and can help develop a medical program to keep your son healthy.
