Calcified Mass

by Bib8, Apr 28, 2008 09:00AM
For a few months now, I've been having problems with a racing heart, lightheadness, shortness of breath, etc.  My family doctor did a chest x-ray on me about 2 weeks ago and it showed a mass that was 4 cm long. It was located almost directly between my breast.  I went to get a c/t scan to see what is was and they said it was a calcified mass.  He told me that probably at some time in my life, I've had pneumonia or some kind of lung infection and never got it treated.  He also told me it was close to some kind of nerve (I don't remember the name of it) and it could be causing some of the symptoms I'm having.  He didn't really talk to me to much about it all.  My question is, could this mass really be causing some symptoms and is having this mass there not any kind of threat to me? Is there any way that it could grow?
