Can surgery cause asthma?

In 1993 I had the lower lobe of my left lung removed surgically because they thought it was cancerous.  As it turns out, it was an incapsulated old tuberculosis.  Since then, I have become progressively worse from asthma/copd.  I feel like my life has been ruined.  Any comments?

It sounds like you have developed a lot of pulmonary problems in the last 8 years, which may have been associated with your surgery. The best advice is to get with a pulmonary specialist to get your asthma and COPD under control. There are many effective respiratory medications, along with quitting smoking (if you are a smoker) that can make a great deal of difference in the quality of your life.
Good luck
