Can't feel left lung, Coughing, Deep breathes, NOTHING. Any Suggestions as to cause?

On a normal basis i have no problems, I'm healthy enough. I find though that even though I'm not physically tired after a set of stairs or running etc. that I'm so out of breath that it hurts my right lung. I remember feeling my left lung before. I was in a car accident as a child, hospitalized multiple times with chronic bronchitis. But as i have gotten older slowly i have lost sensation in my left lung. No exact moment i can recall loosing feeling just for sure the last 3 years I can remember, manly during colds i pay more attention to it,  I haven't felt pain, air or anything thing else in my left lung. Even now as i have a severe sinus infection and it drains to my lungs, (Which doesn't help the out of breath thing) With the worst coughs i can feel my right lung hurt but NEVER feel anything in the left side. This sound stupid but even to cough any thing up i have to turn my head to the right to get flem to come up. I did smoke for about 8 years but haven't smoked in 9 years. Don't understand its wierd has been this way for at least 3 years i can remember for sure.
Left lung I feel NOTHING
Right lung i can feel normal deep breaths.
Left lung during colds, drainage, etc. Feel NOTHING
Right lung during colds, drainage, etc. Can feel deep painful coughs in right lung which i would expect to feel in left as well..... NOTHING?
Makes no sense. Have a cold right now which is exasperating my normal shortness of breath.
I've played it off for a while now as out of shape but I can climb stairs better than a lot of people i know, only problem is when i stop at the top I want to fall over trying to get breath back and by the time they catch up to me after having to stop repeatedly I'm just finally able to start getting breath back. Just feels like I'm dragging my left lung along for the ride sometimes. Am I just over thinking this? I know it sounds stupid but feels real. I have under extremely physically demanding times been so out of breath that my sight goes , (fuzzy white?) with heart beats. Any possible suggestions to talk to my doctor about. Not really good with doctors so knowing a little bit before i go in would help. Thanks
