Choking after cough

Do I have bronchites, when i cough I choke as if I am having an ashma attack. I get a lot of phlem in stuck in my throat and I am always clearing up my throat. It gets very scary because everytime I cough, I feel as if I am choking, gasping for air. Can someone help?
